Recording and Consent

Aria takes recording consent seriously. This page explains which sessions can be recorded, how consent works, and what your rights are.

Which sessions can be recorded?​

Only Stage sessions (Public Sessions and Subscriber Sessions) can be recorded. Private Rooms and Public Campfires are never recorded by Aria.

When a creator enables recording for a Stage session:

  1. All speakers are notified before recording begins and must provide explicit consent
  2. Consent is logged with the user's ID and a timestamp
  3. A visible RECORDING badge is displayed to all participants for the duration
  4. Mid-session recording: If recording starts during an active session, all current speakers receive a consent prompt. Speakers who decline are switched to listener mode
  5. New speakers: Anyone invited to speak during a recorded session receives a consent prompt before their microphone is enabled

What gets recorded​

  • Speaker audio — Only audio from consenting speakers is included
  • Listeners are never recorded — Listeners do not transmit audio
  • Chat messages — Session chat is ephemeral and not included in recordings

Recording indicators​

  • A RECORDING badge visible to all participants in the session
  • A consent prompt shown to speakers when joining or when recording begins
  • A notification to all participants when recording starts or stops

Your rights​

  • Withdraw consent at any time by leaving the session or switching to listener mode. Your audio from that point forward will not be recorded.
  • Request deletion of a recording that includes your audio by contacting privacy@aria-live.app

Retention​

Recordings are retained for up to 90 days, after which they are automatically deleted. Creators can delete their own recordings at any time.

External recording is prohibited​

Recording sessions through external means (screen recording, external microphones, third-party apps) is strictly prohibited. See Recording Protection for the measures Aria uses to enforce this.
